Spanish New Year’s Celebration Concert

We’re approaching the middle of January – the holidays are over but high spirits still remain and we want to keep those going by inviting you to the HCCO’s post -New Year’s celebration featuring music of Spain. There was a revival in Spanish music towards the end of the 19th century when Felipe Pedrell, a composer and teacher, encouraged a younger generation of composers to explore their roots in the Spanish folk traditions and make them known throughout the world. As a result, we are bringing the wonderful music of Albeniz, Granados, Turina, Rodrigo, Falla and others to you for this concert. It will be accompanied by dancers in authentic costume from the Howard County Ballet and a slide show and video presentation featuring scenes from all over Spain that we’re sure will captivate and enthrall! To top it off, we have Master of Ceremonies, Dick Story, the “Voice of Howard County” who will educate and illuminate what we’re listening to and watching. We have two remarkably talented student soloists, Emily Park and Sean Lim, being featured in one of our pieces and you’ll be amazed at their stylish virtuosity and flair! There are also some door prizes generously contributed by River Hill Garden Center, The Wine Bin and Sweet Cascades Chocolatier and a special treat at end of the concert for each member of the audience. To get a sneak preview of some of the music, feel free to visit the following:

We hope you will join us for this special event- until then, have a great week!
