The HCCO combines the clarity of a chamber orchestra with the euphonious acoustics of St. John's Episcopal in Ellicott City, as delightful to the ears as ambrosia to the tongue. You can't get this in a big concert hall.
This is a great orchestra with an outstanding music director, Ron Mutchnik, who just happens to have as birthday today. Happy birthday Ron.
Recently I had the extreme pleasure of attending a Howard County Concert Orchestra performance. They are truly a treasure. These musicians come together along with the amazing acoustics at St. John's to give a very moving experience. Everyone should have this truly beautiful experience.
The Magnificent Mozart concert was the best concert performed by the HCCO, with a spectacular Jupiter symphony played a larger group of professional musicians. Jonathan Carney was wonderful and when asked what he would change, commented that he would not change anything.
I think St. John's has one of the greatest acoustics in which I have ever played. The way in which she cradled the sound was breathtaking. The size and classic shoebox shape make it a perfect arena for Bach to Beethoven. It was an absolute joy to work with this fine orchestra in these superb surroundings. I eagerly anticipate my next concert there!
